Aafes Exchange - Hides bad reviews

So purchased a lovely 2600$ bridal ring set from the lovely aafes and they faded after a week of wear. AAFES tried to make it right buy sending them back to manufacture and having them re rhodium-ed which the turn around was great.

However went to the site to see if my previous review was posted on the quality of the rings and they removed my negative review. Tried posting another review and they have locked me from posting reviews.

The rings after one week of wear have now returned to the ugly state bellow.

Picture taken one week after wear.

You would be suprised to know they replaced the rings and now 2 years later all is well. And for the record your an ***. And my post was about AAFES removing neagtive comments not the price paid for the rings.

Upset about product quality and customer service

Updated by user May 06, 2013

After contacting AAFES headquarters via e-mail, they told me to bring in the necklace so they can send it to the manufacturer for repairs, after about one week i received another phone call to let me know that the manufacturer was unable to fix or replace it and suggested that if i buy a new piece of jewelry for 50% more then the price the necklace was they would refund me the money for the necklace towards a new purchase, yeah right....i just picked it up and took it to our local jewelry store and had them put a new much better quality chain on it for less money then it would have cost me to buy another item at the AAFES store and they also credited me the value of the old necklace towards the new one, from now on we will stay in town and buy, I am done with AAFES.

Original review Apr 01, 2013
My husband purchased a$447.00 necklace in december of 2012 for me, I wore it 2x since then and the chain is falling apart and scratching my neck,it has become totally non- wearable. I went to our local AAFES store to have it send in to the manufacturer to have it fixed, after a manager was called by a customer service rep. to further assist me, I was told he could not help me, actually I had the impression he did not even know what to do or say as he was almost mute, I was expecting to get the manufacturers address at least, so I could take care of the problem myself, but no luck, I was pretty upset because we spend a lot of money buying jewelry before over all these years, the service what is being provide to our military is no longer different then any other store, overpriced and faulty quality, to me that's just a rip off.

No response in two months and thru 3 Managers.

I called Dallas 2 months ago to customer service about backpacking single burner liquid gas stoves. Propane bottles are too heavy to backpack into the wilderness . I asked if we could get these. Stocked in the BX as well, as fluorocarbon fishing line, and the Jamacan Rum Appleton Estate that they Used to carry to get these items in stock. ......NO RESPONSE ...a month and a half ago I wrote a customer Comment and put it in the box at McChord...NO RESPONSE....I went into the back office a month ago spoke to the young lady behind the desk, explained. It all to her. She stated the manager was on vacation until Tuesday, I gave her my name and ph. Number for the manager to call me......NO RESPONSE...... I called a week ago spoke to a manager on the phone explained it all to her, she said she would have the man in charge of outdoor equipment call me....NO RESPONSE... . Today 4/3/13 I went into the back office. And spoke to yet another manager and she said she would have the person in outdoor Gear speak with me...NO RESPONSE. After waiting in outdoor Equipment for over half an hour.

What does it take to get some customer service FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE ???

It is time Tom Shull clear out management as they have had 3 managers in the last 6 months. They should be stocking what the customers ask for NOT. What they "think should be stocked". McGhee. Should be the first to go. Better still have Tom Shull. Go to the different bases as "undercover boss".

Amamnda Is A Poor Manager

Amanda is the Exchange Manager at Fort Carson's Main Store in Colorado Springs. It is a rare occasion that she will walk by her many employees and say hello, let alone acknowledge them. Many employees have turned in suggestions to her with no reply what so ever. It seems her only job (at least it seems to the employees) is to follow the assistant manager Allen around like a little puppy. No one has really gotten to know her, but it would be nice, even good for moral if she would just say Hi once in a while, or a least get back to people when they make suggestions, even if she doesn't agree. How she got a position where PR is so crucial we will never know!

Poor customer service

There is a manager named Martin at the Burger King Located on the Air Force Academy. Every time my family dines-in and Martin is working, he seems to be very aggravated with his employees and does not seem to be very customer friendly with all or any customers. It seems as though he brings personal problems to work and it is not appreciated at all. I would be willing to bet that Martin receives many complaints from customers, and for some reason we see him there month after month for some odd reason. The human resources division of AAFES really needs to check into this as soon as possible. I am sure he has cost this establishment a lot of income. Thank you.

I have also had issues with the Burger King on the Air Force Academy. Went through the drive through yesterday, with my order, I had 3 large drinks.

Pulled to the window , paid for my order, I told the gal I didn't need a drink carrier ,she said " I will give it to you and you can take the drinks out and give it back to me". The drinks were already spilling over, and I can not hold on to an un sturdy heavy drink carrier , so I told her ,no, I will just take the drinks. She left , said something to the other guy working on an order, he turned and looked out the window and laughed . He then came to the window and went to hand me the drinks in the drink carrier, I told him" I don't need / want the drink carrier and he informed me it was a burger king policy that he had to give me the drink carrier!

I refused once again and they refused to give me our 3 large drinks. If I don't take the carrier , I don't get my drinks!! I ended up having to go inside to get our food and drinks all because I didn't want a drink carrier that I couldn't lift and hold onto with one hand. To me I feel like I was bullied and forced to do what they wanted me to do!

I will never eat at the burger king on the Academy again..... What if a Disabled vet rolled through there and was unable to lift that drink carrier with all that weight with his injured hand?

would he be treated the same way! I sure hope not!!!

Starbucks manager in Martin Army Community Hospital, Ft Benning GA VERY rude!

My husband & I walked up to the Starbucks in the hospital on Thursday March 14 around noon to find no one behind the counter. After about 5 mins of standing there a woman walked out from the back room & yelled at us "What do you want" in an harsh tone, not even looking at us. My husband also noted that the woman who took our orders breath smelled of alcohol. I did not smell it but my husband is AD Army & would not say such a thing if it weren't true. I asked him again if he was sure & he was firm that she smelled of alcohol. After we ordered, we sat down & I waited for my drink. The guy that ordered after us got a nice "Hi, what can I get for you?" in a much warmer tone. Several orders were taken after that & I still hadn't gotten my drink, so I got up to just get a refund seeing as their rude behavior had turned us off at this point. The woman went to the back room again to get her supervisor because she said she couldn't put the money back on our debit card & that we had to have cash back. That was fine with me, but when the supervisor came out she was clearly pissed & did not say a word to me. She was huffing as she opened the register & handed me my cash back. I said "thank you" and she turned around and briskly walked back into the back room without ever saying a word to me. She was EXTREMELY rude. I also remember that when I was given my refund, the order not only never came, it was also wrong, but that didn't matter to me as I just wanted to get out of there. As we were leaving I overheard that same supervisor talking about us saying "that lady" & nodding toward me & her body language indicated that she was very pissed. I have never been served as badly as I was this day & I do believe that this was a race issue. The 2 women who worked at this Starbucks were African American. My husband & I are white. The man behind us who got the kind welcoming was also African American. I cannot think of why else we were treated so badly seeing as I did nothing but order & after 15 mins of waiting I only asked back for my money. Where I'm from (CA) race is not an issue. I grew up in a melting pot & had friends of all races so this behavior was a slap to the face. I think GA is a little stuck in the old times, but I would never treat a customer the way we were treated that day. I cannot fathom as to how that supervisor is still employed. Whoever is reading this, may also want to investigate this shift for alcohol in the back room as my husband stated he smelled.

Starbucks in Martin Army Ft Benn servers

I went into Starbucks today at Martin Army on Fort Benning and from the start the server was rude with me. Instead of the usual "Hi welcome to Starbucks what can I get from you" that you usually hear from other Starbucks employees, I got a "What do you want?" After 10 mins I finally got my drink in the wrong size and it was made wrong. This was my first time going to this Starbucks and I will not be going back. The servers here don't seem to like their job very much or people for that matter.

False advertisement

I am immensely frustrated. I attempted to buy a towel today at the PX at zone 1 camp arifjan in Kuwait. I got to the register to find that the towel I thought was 2.95 was actually 5.99..after no cooperation with the cashier I asked for the manager. He didn't act like person in charge so asked he was the manager. He said that he wasn't. Once I finally got to talk to the manager, she refused to sell the towel to me for 2.95. I explained that this was false advertising, and all she persisted to do was offer to sell it to me for 5.99. I then preceded to walk out the door enraged. I do not have to shop at aafes. I can make do with online shopping if I must. The ball is in your court. -Aaron

Maybe someone (even customer) put that towel in the wrong spot? Did you see a bigger or better towel near by? No, that likely is the 5.99 towel not the 2.95 towel

The manager is only there to help her relatives to establish business with aafes, her husbands company and relatives benefit from her position as manager. There are many businesses doing business with aafes Kuwait which are not legally registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry - Kuwait.

The charter of aafes is that the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) is an agency of the United States Department of Defense. Its dual missions are to provide quality merchandise and services of necessity and convenience to authorized customers at uniform low prices, and to generate reasonable earnings to supplement appropriated funds for the support of United States Army and Air Force Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs.

Thanksgiving Humiliation

I am Maj Maria de L. Lebron, TDY/LEAVE in Turkey. After almost 3 years without been able to be with my husband, working for the AF. I went to Incirlik AB just to been humiliated by Mr. Ken Chorpenning and his staff (name unknown but Indian looking). After going ou to the BX for a week and happily talking with everybody that still remember me from before (2006). This 2 individuals stopped me while asking me for my TDY papers. I stated that I do not carry them and I do not have to. I was humiliated and I expect a writting appology from this poor customer service Store Manager. Think about this, you go to a base that for you is the only safe area in the entire country and a civilian told me that I am not welcome there without my TDY papers. People, I love the AF and I live AAFES but this type of Manager should be more cooperative with Officers from the AF. CONTACT ME AT- lebron.mria@***.com and maria.lebron@***.af.mil. Calling BS on this review! Considering all of the spelling and grammatical errors, there's no way in *** that this was written by an AF officer. It's a funny post written by WANNABE Major Lebron.

Guest

"Enlisted Grunt", you do not represent the enlisted force in any way, shape or form. I believe the Major's intent was that the manager should have handled the situation much more courteously.

If I had said "as a SNCO in the AF", would you have had the same response? Customer service is important, and in my experience, even more so OCONUS or austere environments.

If TDY documentation is required while visiting that particular AAFES location, then yes, I can see a staff member informing the customer of the policy, but not in a rude manner. Regardless of rank.

Guest

Should be more cooperative with officers from the Airforce? What makes you think that a commission grants you special treatment.

Do you honestly believe that if you had been an E-1 the behavior would have been justified?

Go and get your TDY orders. Maybe if you had a better grasp on the english language there would be less question as to your legitimacy in the BX.

Keep Getting Charged for Canceled Order

Updated by user Jan 09, 2013

I filed a dispute with my bank to put a hold on the payment. Then called customer service on Monday (10 December).

The lady I spoke to said that the order couldn't be stopped because it was already ready for shipment. She said she saw the email where I was told the...

Original review Dec 09, 2012
I ordered a $139 gift on 03 Nov 12. The payment showed on my credit card 04 Nov and then a refund showed on 05 Nov.

I contacted customer service to find out what was going on. This was a gift I was hoping to give my husband for his birthday. I received an email saying it was a billing error. Ok, fine.

Ten days later nothing had changed with my order status so I went on-line and emailed again about my order. This time I received an email saying my order was canceled on 05 Nov. I replied asking why it was canceled, why I wasn't notified and why the order status still said order was received by warehouse (or something like that). I never received a reply.

So I ordered the same product somewhere else for $159. On 26 Nov there was a $139 charge to my account from AAFES. I emailed the second rep and asked why, if my order was canceled, was I being charged (23 days after the original order date) and why I never got a reply back after my original questions about the cancellations. I also went on-line and submitted a cancellation through there.

I did not get a reply or conformation back but my account showed a refund on 27 Nov. Now on 08 Dec there is another charge!! I sent a few emails to both the first rep and the second rep and I went back on line to cancel it. I also called the customer service number and explained the situation.

He just said he'd cancel it and since it was a Saturday I wouldn't receive anything until Monday. He didn't have any answers for my questions. I told him if I didn't see a cancellation email by Monday I was calling again.

He hung up on me. I'll update this as soon as I see (or don't see) an email.

Unfortunately I recently found the Exchange Auctions and purchased multiple "luxury" watches, jewelry, and a few coins from Exchange Auctions. Every single thing was junk and I mean junk!

The jewelry was so bad my wife said she would be embarrassed to actually wear it. Some of it was broken when it arrived. The watches, 3 of them, were some of the worst examples of a watch you've ever seen. They don't keep time well, some of the buttons to control the under dials don't work at all, and most of all they just feel cheap.

The coins I purchased were not at all in the condition as they were shown online. Most look like they were picked up in a parking lot. There were a few times my winning bid was flat out cancelled and I received BS emails explaining why it had happened, only to see the same item up sometimes within 48 hours. Please beware of these auctions.

The Exchange Auction site is a joke! At Auction is the contracted company that runs this site as well as their own, I have found out. People look at what they are selling in every category they have. Its all JUNK!

ALL OF IT! Literally every page is knock off Chinese ***! These people are the bottom of the barrel and are happily ripping off service members.

Every single person would be good to steer as far clear from this company as possible, that is unless you like your hard earned dollars taken in exchange for junk and sometimes just flat out taken! I wish I had found this site before I bid on any of their junk!

Breach of contract

Fort Drum Exchange

Independent Contractor

10/3/12 Grievance Complaint

Enclosed I have documented the various areas where my contract was breached and unfairly terminated due to the brash and hostile decision making initiated by the acting supervisor who I know as "Della."

Nowhere in my contract does it state that I agreed to be subjected to the humiliation, bullying tactics, abuse, harassment, and interrogation initiated by "Della." I was told by Mark Shepard that the reason given for my termination was due to an audit, when there was no legal audit that took place. What actually took place was a secret investigation which included an investigator violating my personal belongings in an attempt to criminalize and embarrass me. Without any notice my family member/employee arrived to work and was met by police officers that actually interrogated him, giving him the message that I was banned and would be arrested for trespassing if I were to return. He was thrown out and forced to pack and leave with no preparation, which is a direct breach of the contract that I signed. At the time, it was pouring down raining which left some my merchandise damaged as a result. The contract states that either party may terminate the contract in the event that the contract has been breached and notice must be given in writing with 24 hours notice (Article 1, general provisions -section 8). This kind of treatment is illegal and WILL NOT be tolerated by myself and should not be tolerated by you. I intend on exhausting every possible channel until this matter is properly addressed and investigated. From the onset of these events, I only asked to be treated fairly and to not be allowed to be bullied and intimidated by "Della." Instead, thus far I was provided with no assistance from her superiors. I have alerted the Garrison Commander, the Inspector General's office, General Manager JW Merriman and General Manager Kenneth Lamtiaco. My next step is to seek further legal counsel. My business reputation has been completely damaged as a result of the lack of professional response toward this matter and any opportunity to expand my business with the exchange has been unfairly eliminated. I do not intend to rest until I have been treated fairly and with the decency that I deserve. I do not feel that anything that I am requesting is out of the ordinary. My request for due process and fair treatment should be treated honorably. At this point, "Della's" behavior should also be properly reprimanded and corrected, in order to see to it that no one else is ever subjected to this level of abuse again. I deserve to have my position reinstated, as all of this was claimed to have been caused by a $41.00 error in my paperwork, which was a simple issue that could have been addressed professionally. I was accused of stealing, as if I would risk my business reputation and subject myself to this type of disrespect over such a minor figure. It is possible that my paperwork may have been in error of the sum of $41.00, but to be accused of stealing and treated like a criminal is stretching the issue in a way that was totally unnecessary. When it was brought to my attention, I paid the money accordingly. The so called audit that took place was instigated without my knowledge or permission and was discovered as a result of someone picking through my personal belongings that I left behind when I was not working. I would have been eager to volunteer such information, as I have always acted under the impression that I have nothing to hide as a legit and righteous business man, my premise of doing business is founded upon the health and well being of my customers. Article 1 section 12, examination of records, states that this clause applies if the amount of the contract exceeds $10,000. This does not include secretly investigating me without sufficient cause. Any errors in my paperwork were just that, as a result of not being properly instructed by "Della" on how to file the paperwork accurately. Nonetheless, I have done my best to see to it that the necessary and accurate totals of my sales were reported to the best of my ability with the highest level of respect and integrity. According to the contract I should have been given the opportunity to fully correct this error and I was not subject to experiencing this illusion of an audit that serves as the claim toward my termination.

In conclusion Article 1 section 17 states that I agree to accept the exclusive jurisdiction of an appropriate US federal administration body of court. I am aware of this fact and I intend to act accordingly.

Ongoin sorry service,no will return email, generally arrogant

its what don't happen, they do not followup on orders, this can go on forever, cant get any satisfaction. This has been going on since 1998 and getting worse.... Cancelled orders are shipped anyway always after the holidays. they will not refund money to bank but require you to have a bank account for payment. When items are out of stock they do not take it offline, they do process order and a month or so later send you a cancellation notice. Then its a 72 hour waiting period each way when you try to communicate with them!! The fighting men and women of this country deserve better and the fat cats need to be removed and sent packing.. Then hire some Vets to run the show..

I just had an issue with an order they told me I canceled (I did not). The order status was still said processing though.

I received my money back and ordered from somewhere else. 3 weeks later they charged me for the order. I got my money back and then was charged again and was told the order was never canceled and was on the way out for shipment.

I had to fight to get my money back. I also got my bank involved too.
