Selling Laser Altered Diamond Ring

I unknowingly bought my Wife a 1/2 Carat Diamond Ring and found out yesterday from an appraiser that it is worthless because it has been altered by a lazer to enhance the look. It seems wrong that $1,000.00 was wasted on a ring I cannot sell or trade in because it is not a quality diamond. I was taken advantage while in uniform. If I was informed up front that the diamond was altered and not a quality diamond I would have shopped and purchased where I could retain the value at least. I would like to get my moey back for the diamond but do not think they BX will entertain the idea of refund. Buyers be ware is the lesson learned when purchasing a diamond. I never even concerned myself with the poor quality idea when buying from the BX because I thought the BX was reliable.

Say it is not so.....AAFES taking advantage of their uniformed members......been happening for years.....its even worse overseas where they have the monopoly on stateside merchandise. Most of the stuff stocked is over priced.....and if was not for the subsidizing these clowns would be out of business

Aafes is the BIGGEST rip off to the military there is.They say buy there because you don't pay any tax but the price will be the same as it is off post tax are not, most of the time more. The shoppetts are a joke they are so high.Ft.Polk gas is high because I think they only use Leesville,La as a price check.Sandy Hill on la10 just out side of south gate, hwy 467 gate,is always lot cheaper and so is gas in DeRidder and Alexandria.WalMart has better prices.Aafes buys these high price clothes and things that most of the families can't afford.

My lineage aafes is *** and not looking out for troop

aafes allows my lineage in san diego to rip off troops for money. they charge troops payment plans for 7months totaling over 800,900 dollars and charge around 80 to 100 dollars for shipping. this company is a complete rip off and can anyone tell me who allows this...

AAFES Barber Shop is horrible.,what happened?

I used to go with my Dad and get haircuts for $2.00 at AAFES barber Shop. When I joined the service it was nostalgic that I was getting the same good ol haircut ths lasted 3 minutes and was a couple bucks but now it's the exact opposite. I have been to this one 3 times and they're wont be a fourth. First off, when I come after work, there is always 7 or so barbers, but EVERY time 5 soon leave and the 2 or 3 left are soooo *** slow it is ridiculous. The price used to be an advantage, now it's the same off post and the same haircut also. I was 8 people behind when I got here today and I've been here one and a half hours. The 3 minute military haircut is now just a legend. RAK

Never Buy Online! Broken Electronics, Wrong Shipments, Shady Accounting!

I will NO LONGER buy AAFES items online. In May of 2013, I bought 3 items from AAFES online: -$379 Dell Inspiron laptop -$269 PICO Projector -$69 Hardshell Backpack for laptop I received the laptop but the operating system was so horrible (Windows 8), that I shipped it back to AAFES and requested a refund (received). I received the PICO projector but it wouldn't work (projector lit up, but NO PICTURE). There were multiple connection choices and I tried all of them. When I plugged in the projector's cable to the VGA connection on my brand new laptop, IT BLEW UP MY LAPTOP!!! The video card was totally fried and I had to pay $225 to get my laptop repaired at a local shop. There was NO warning label on AAFES' advertisement, or with the projector, about incompatibility or hardware issues for a regular Dell Latitude (Windows 7 OS, 64-bit). I also realized that the projector was built very poorly, most likely with cheap, low-end circuitry. Thank god I received a refund for this item too (though I'm not happy that I had to pay for expensive shipping costs, to return the laptop and projector). However, I never received the backpack that I had paid for. I checked online and tracked the backpack shipment, which showed a status of "received" -- to a completely different city! I called AAFES Customer Service and the rep emailed a "Letter of Non-Receipt" to me, which I was instructed to print, sign and fax, to receive a refund. I did so, but never received a refund. I called one month later, and had to request another "Letter of Non-Receipt" letter to sign. This time, I am sending it via postal mail. Hopefully I'll get my refund, but what a waste of my time -- having to jump through all of these hoops, just to ensure that I am compensated for returning these poor-performance products. I also checked my STAR/ AAFES credit card account balance online, and even though I've made $710 worth of payments, from January to August of 2013 (with $171 going towards fluctuating interest payments, which SHOULD have remained at a steady 10.24% but clearly did NOT, during this 8-month period!), my balance only reflects payments worth $402 -- "What in da heezy?!" Where is the remaining $137 that should have been credited to my account? Now I have to spend MORE time disputing these charges, by writing a formal letter and submitting proof to support my claim. UGH, I can think of better ways to spend a Saturday night. Customer Service phone reps are also rude and incompetent. If I ever want to buy online again, I will stick with Amazon.com, or buy directly from a local shop.

Reported star credit card to be closed and lost, failed to close

Reported my credit card that I had with them lost. They failed to close it and never notified me of anything. Now the person who racked up 3,000 dollars on the card I am some how still liable. Cant wait for the Military police investigators to check the cameras. I supplied deployment order and police reports to their fraud dept. The customer service representative who I first talked with told me I wasn't allowed to speak with the fraud department. When I told them I'm not paying then they changed their tune. Never shop at this parasitic store and definitely stay away from their credit services. Walmart has better customer service and business ethics than aafes.

Amamnda Is A Poor Manager

Amanda is the Exchange Manager at Fort Carson's Main Store in Colorado Springs. It is a rare occasion that she will walk by her many employees and say hello, let alone acknowledge them. Many employees have turned in suggestions to her with no reply what so ever. It seems her only job (at least it seems to the employees) is to follow the assistant manager Allen around like a little puppy. No one has really gotten to know her, but it would be nice, even good for moral if she would just say Hi once in a while, or a least get back to people when they make suggestions, even if she doesn't agree. How she got a position where PR is so crucial we will never know!

False advertisement

I am immensely frustrated. I attempted to buy a towel today at the PX at zone 1 camp arifjan in Kuwait. I got to the register to find that the towel I thought was 2.95 was actually 5.99..after no cooperation with the cashier I asked for the manager. He didn't act like person in charge so asked he was the manager. He said that he wasn't. Once I finally got to talk to the manager, she refused to sell the towel to me for 2.95. I explained that this was false advertising, and all she persisted to do was offer to sell it to me for 5.99. I then preceded to walk out the door enraged. I do not have to shop at aafes. I can make do with online shopping if I must. The ball is in your court. -Aaron

Maybe someone (even customer) put that towel in the wrong spot? Did you see a bigger or better towel near by? No, that likely is the 5.99 towel not the 2.95 towel

The manager is only there to help her relatives to establish business with aafes, her husbands company and relatives benefit from her position as manager. There are many businesses doing business with aafes Kuwait which are not legally registered with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry - Kuwait.

The charter of aafes is that the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) is an agency of the United States Department of Defense. Its dual missions are to provide quality merchandise and services of necessity and convenience to authorized customers at uniform low prices, and to generate reasonable earnings to supplement appropriated funds for the support of United States Army and Air Force Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) programs.

Poor customer service

There is a manager named Martin at the Burger King Located on the Air Force Academy. Every time my family dines-in and Martin is working, he seems to be very aggravated with his employees and does not seem to be very customer friendly with all or any customers. It seems as though he brings personal problems to work and it is not appreciated at all. I would be willing to bet that Martin receives many complaints from customers, and for some reason we see him there month after month for some odd reason. The human resources division of AAFES really needs to check into this as soon as possible. I am sure he has cost this establishment a lot of income. Thank you.

I have also had issues with the Burger King on the Air Force Academy. Went through the drive through yesterday, with my order, I had 3 large drinks.

Pulled to the window , paid for my order, I told the gal I didn't need a drink carrier ,she said " I will give it to you and you can take the drinks out and give it back to me". The drinks were already spilling over, and I can not hold on to an un sturdy heavy drink carrier , so I told her ,no, I will just take the drinks. She left , said something to the other guy working on an order, he turned and looked out the window and laughed . He then came to the window and went to hand me the drinks in the drink carrier, I told him" I don't need / want the drink carrier and he informed me it was a burger king policy that he had to give me the drink carrier!

I refused once again and they refused to give me our 3 large drinks. If I don't take the carrier , I don't get my drinks!! I ended up having to go inside to get our food and drinks all because I didn't want a drink carrier that I couldn't lift and hold onto with one hand. To me I feel like I was bullied and forced to do what they wanted me to do!

I will never eat at the burger king on the Academy again..... What if a Disabled vet rolled through there and was unable to lift that drink carrier with all that weight with his injured hand?

would he be treated the same way! I sure hope not!!!

Upset about product quality and customer service

Update by user May 06, 2013

After contacting AAFES headquarters via e-mail, they told me to bring in the necklace so they can send it to the manufacturer for repairs, after about one week i received another phone call to let me know that the manufacturer was unable to fix or replace it and suggested that if i buy a new piece of jewelry for 50% more then the price the necklace was they would refund me the money for the necklace towards a new purchase, yeah right....i just picked it up and took it to our local jewelry store and had them put a new much better quality chain on it for less money then it would have cost me to buy another item at the AAFES store and they also credited me the value of the old necklace towards the new one, from now on we will stay in town and buy, I am done with AAFES.

Original review posted by user Apr 01, 2013
My husband purchased a$447.00 necklace in december of 2012 for me, I wore it 2x since then and the chain is falling apart and scratching my neck,it has become totally non- wearable. I went to our local AAFES store to have it send in to the manufacturer to have it fixed, after a manager was called by a customer service rep. to further assist me, I was told he could not help me, actually I had the impression he did not even know what to do or say as he was almost mute, I was expecting to get the manufacturers address at least, so I could take care of the problem myself, but no luck, I was pretty upset because we spend a lot of money buying jewelry before over all these years, the service what is being provide to our military is no longer different then any other store, overpriced and faulty quality, to me that's just a rip off.

Starbucks in Martin Army Ft Benn servers

I went into Starbucks today at Martin Army on Fort Benning and from the start the server was rude with me. Instead of the usual "Hi welcome to Starbucks what can I get from you" that you usually hear from other Starbucks employees, I got a "What do you want?" After 10 mins I finally got my drink in the wrong size and it was made wrong. This was my first time going to this Starbucks and I will not be going back. The servers here don't seem to like their job very much or people for that matter.
